Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin

Drugstore makeup has become such great value lately & we really are spoilt for choice.
Some brands are taking it a step further & releasing some amazing products that are definite competition to their high end counter parts.

Today I have been on the verge of annoyance with not being able to find a decent 'New' drugstore foundation that works with my skin to keep it staying put all day.
I love my L'Oreal True Match but I have been waiting for another brand to release a foundation that is worthy of a blog post.

Maybelline has always been a favorite drugstore brand in my books for their innovative ideas & especially my love of their liners & colour tattoo pots.
Recently they released a new foundation & concealer around Australia that is fairly unknown to many. I've seen this before on US posts but not here.

I found the formulation of the foundation to be quite thick for a medium coverage foundation.
It has a beautiful creamy texture with a slight matte finish. I found the coverage good but over the week I tested this I noticed the only real way to apply it is with your fingers. Using a sponge or my Sigma F80 made this look cakey in some areas.

The foundation states: it will make the skin look flawless, last up to 13hrs, even out skin tone after 3 weeks of continuous use & reduce the appearance of bumps, redness & other nasty things we like to hide.

The colour range is good but I do wish they had all the colours that the US have available, there seems to also be a slight orange-y undertone also. For fair skin you may want to try something else. I currently have a few small bumps on my skin & this did well to cover those but they were still slightly visable.
The staying power for me was 6-8 no more & no less which is pretty decent for a drugstore brand. I do use a powder in my most prominent oil zones (t-zone & nose). I used the foundation both with my Rimmel Stay Matte & my MAC MSF (HG) & they worked well.
The foundation is great for both oily & dry skin types.

The foundation retails for $21.95 & the concealer $14.95 at Priceline & Chemist Warehouse Stores. But isn't stocked at all stores as yet. If you see this at Coles  I'd definitely advise you to pick this up as it is currently on special for $13.96.
For myself, I might grab a few more bottles whilst this is on special.

Coming up next week is another New release from Maybellines beauty competitor L'Oreal. I'll give you all my thoughts on their product release.

  1. It sounds good but the shades might be a bit orange for me as I have really fair skin.

    1. Yes I am hearing a few say this since heading out to purchase it. Such a shame, hopefully maybelline creates a few more shades without the orange tinge.
