Work Desk & Makeup Collection

It's been such a long time since my last post about my makeup collection & storage. (click here to see my first collection)
Still to this day it is one of my favourite things to watch on Youtube or search through on someones blog. Maybe its the shopper-holic part of me that enjoys seeing what others are buying, hauling & general favourites when it comes to beauty.

My storage has completely changed, from when I first decided to get into blogging & I received my first vanity from my amazing mother in law, to selling it for something bigger & more suited to my needs.

Thankfully my boyfriend & I have two spare rooms in our house & I previously used one as a beauty room & one as an office.
I've now moved both into one & I mainly blog from my vanity as it has the space to fit my Mac & all my makeup.

Here's a quick look at my previous setup

The desk was purchased at a small boutique in the South Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne so it was one of a kind but unfortunately a tad too small for me so I upgraded to an Ikea table top & two 5 draw units (also from Ikea). It's incredibly spacious & fits in with all my needs.

What's On Top

I've been trying to simplify my collection & how I go about storing it, so far I've halved how much makeup I do have & thankfully I have had zero complaints from friends & family when sending boxes of cosmetics their way.
On the top of the vanity I have a few shopping bags & framed items as my decor pieces.
I keep a small tray on the side for the jewellery pieces I use throughout the week & three small white stationary boxes I use to keep my makeup brushes in.

I keep my Mac lipsticks & a few Sportsgirl lipsticks in a 24 lipstick holder (from ebay) & I also have my two Tom Ford Lipsticks & YSL lipstick which I have been using almost every day now.

Left Ikea Set
First Draw

This is my basic draw, everything I use for that week gets placed into the two clear acrylic containers. I also keep a fresh pack of makeup wipes (everythings white in this room so I have to clean it when I'm done).

(please note I won't go through every single makeup item in the draws as that will go on for quite awhile & when I eventually create a YouTube channel I may do a full makeup collection as my first video)

Second Draw

Filled with foundations that I'm attempting to go through before purchasing anymore, BB creams, foundation powders, primers & concealers.

Third Draw

My favourite of all the draws because I am obsessed with blushes & highlighters!
I have a mix between drugstore & high end in this draw.
At the front I keep my setting powders (ELF, Rimmel, Ben Nye & Laura Mercier)
First three containers are highlighters, blushes & then my Mac & Milani blushes.
Back three containers are filled with highlighters, bronzers & more (mostly unused) blushes.

Fourth Draw

You'll notice I don't really post about eyeshadows often because I honestly don't get the time to sit & apply it everyday. I'm not an expert on eyeshadow or makeup but I am learning something new everyday & attempting to refine my technique.
In this draw I keep false lashes, shadow pots, liners, mascara's, lash glues, brow products & gel liner pots.

Fifth Draw

Ok...so this is slightly embarrassing when it comes to hauling makeup!
In this draw it is mostly filled with limited edition makeup that I haven't had the courage to use yet, some excess packaging that I feel like I can't throw away & new products that I am yet to use (but eventually will ).
Basically a draw filled with new goodies to play with.

Right Ikea Set
First Draw

This is all basics that I tend to grab daily, brush cleaners, hand sanitiser, makeup wipes & various beauty tools.

Second Draw

I keep quite a few samples that I have received, nail products (which is thankfully very limited now that I've cleaned it out). Products that will be coming up in future blog posts & a couple of products I'm yet to use as they didn't fit in my other draw.

Third Draw

The most embarrassing considering I am a neat freak when it comes to anything else in my house this is the one draw that looks like a bomb hit it!
Previously I used a makeup cube with 5 draws to store all my lip products on the top of my vanity but I couldn't stand how crowded it looked.
I got rid of the cube & halved my lip product collection but as yet haven't found a solution on where to put the items. Right now they are stashed in this draw with all my eye shadow palettes.

Fourth Draw

This is my hair draw, I keep hair tools, clips, brushes & a couple of various beauty products.
(the most boring out of all of them & clearly unorganized!)

Fifth Draw

The very last draw on my vanity is the one I almost never touch, I keep backups of makeup cleaning wipes, a makeup bag, hair products, my Sigma brush cup & unused makeup brushes or backups.

And thats it.....there's not much more than that!
Again my collection used to be a lot larger & quite overwhelming & I decided it was becoming such a waste for me personally.
After culling through all my makeup & giving away all the products I unfortunately neglected I noticed that I felt so much better at the size of what I was left with.

Hope you enjoyed this & fingers crossed I eventually get the time to create a YouTube channel & start creating some videos!

If you have a post about your collection then please leave me a link below as I'd love to take a look.

    1. It's quite funny because I'm so particular about everything else in my draws but for this side I seem to have no plans to clean it up!

I'll get there one day :)

    1. It definitely made me feel alot less guilty about how much makeup I own, & honestly it was so unnecessary for me to have that much :)

    1. Morning :)

      Thanksyou, I use a Canon 600D.
The containers are from a local $2 store & I got them for around $0.70c each (was very lucky).

Its a big job but lots of fun!

    1. The box shaped white ones are from Big W in the stationary section and the White metal ones are from Ikea in the plants area.
