Introduction to the iconic Louis Vuitton Monogram Speedy 30

When it comes to my collection of handbags my favourite and most used will always be my  Monogram Louis Vuitton Speedy 30.
For designer bag hoarders like myself I believe we can all agree that having this particular bag in your collection is a staple. For its iconic look that Audrey Hepburn made famous back in the day, the stunning monogram pattern across its canvas and its sturdy handles that eventually turn to a stunning patina over time.
This bag has always been my go to for a couple of years now. Its easy to use, very spacious and rocks any outfit its paired with.
Although I am not one to purchase replicas (again that is my own individual opionion and I understand that this particular bag is one of the most replicated out of any designer handbags on the market) I prefer to buy and support the true creators of this brand.

The speedy shape has been used throughout Louis Vuitton's history and this particular style comes in three iconic canvas's: Monogram, Damier Ebene and Damier Azure. The Ebene was the original print released in 1888 which I know many people weren't aware of. Monogram then came along in 1886.

Outter materials are one piece of monogramed canvas that is wrapped around the bag.  One side with the 'LVs' facing up and the second side with the monogram 'LVs' are facing upside down (again due to Louis Vuitton using one piece of continuous canvas). The sizes available are the 25cm, 30cm, 35cm and 40cm.
With my dimensions being: Length 30cm x Height 21cm x Width 17cm

The trimmings of the bag are made from natural cow hide leather and overtime the vachetta leather will start to go from a cream colour to a beautiful patina, mine are currently at the honey beige stage and I absolutely love it. Some may prefer how they look when you first purchase the bag from the boutique but for me I love the tanning/oxidising process. Mine has been well used but held up extremely well over the years. Although its not used as an everyday bag I have definitely gotten my moneys worth.
From that the bag has one pocket on the inside, zippered top and can be worn on the crook of your arm or clutched by the handles. When you hear the rumours of the bag being a black whole......well this is absolutely true. When you fill it with your belongings it can make it hard to sort through and find what you need. Another factor to keep in mind is whether you like the slouched look, if not I recommend purchasing a base shaper which are available online.

Note that Louis Vuitton and many other designer stores have price rises twice a year and after me running into one of their flagship stores lately I was surprised at how much these particular bags now cost compared to how much I paid many years ago.

Current Retail Price in Australia $1,270.00AUS

I do hope you loved this review and if you have been considering purchasing this bag I very much encourage it, its an iconic style with remarkable quality to add to your collection and become a great investment piece. From someone who has bought and sold quite a few pieces from Louis Vuitton over the years, this is most definitely my most prized possession.

Warning: Please note a few factors when purchasing preloved items, ALWAYS do your research. Never go off the word of the seller, I did an immense amount of research before purchasing my first Louis Vuitton piece and I continue to learn something new everyday.
This post was also in no way a 'bragging post'. I simply wanted to show a piece of my collection that means something to me and has great sentimental value. Any rude or derogatory comments will be removed and before anyone asks, I saved for over a year for this purchase when I was a trainee on terribly low wages who yes...paid rent and bills after moving out of home! Thankyou for taking the time to read this and if you have any questions, please leave them below.
